Digital Business Institute (DBI) and PeCI Empower Trainers Through Strategic Training Initiative: Digital Business Institute, in partnership with the Pan-African e-Commerce Initiative (PeCI), has taken a significant step towards fostering sustainable development in the digital economy by organizing a comprehensive “Training of Trainers” program. This initiative aims to build capacity in critical areas such as cross-border trade,various e-commerce business models,and gender mainstreaming in business, equipping a new generation of trainers to drive impact in Rwanda and beyond. The program, which brought together a cohort of 14 trainees, focuses on creating a ripple effect of knowledge and skills. By nurturing these trainers, the Digital Business Institute and PeCI seek to enable them to disseminate vital knowledge within their respective communities and industries. This approach ensures a broader reach and long-term sustainability of the initiative’s objectives. The training covers essential topics relevant to Rwanda’s growing digital economy. Cross-Border Trade: Participants gain insights into navigating the complexities of regional and international trade, leveraging e-commerce platforms, and overcoming logistical and regulatory challenges. The focus aligns with Rwanda’s strategic position in the East African Community (EAC) and its ambition to become a hub for digital trade. e-Commerce Business Models: The topic emphasizes on basic and small-scale e-commerce business models that address some of the challenges new and upcoming online platforms face in the early stage. This topic focuses on early adoption of the right business process to ensure a high chance of success. Facilitation skills : Facilitation skills were a critical component of the Training of Trainers (ToT) program, designed to equip trainers with the tools and techniques necessary to effectively deliver training sessions and drive meaningful engagement. The Multiplier Effect: By targeting trainers, the program ensures that knowledge is not confined to a limited audience but instead proliferates through professional networks and communities. The trainers are equipped not only with technical knowledge but also with facilitation and mentorship skills, enabling them to guide businesses in need of consultancy on those topics. The collaboration between Digital Business Institute and PeCI reflects a shared vision of inclusive and sustainable economic growth. By focusing on areas critical to Rwanda’s development goals—including cross border trade which contributes to national and regional objectives outlined in Rwanda’s Vision 2050 and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework. The “Training of Trainers” framework marks a significant milestone in Rwanda’s journey toward a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable digital economy. By addressing business concepts such as cross-border trade and business models, trainers are equipped with knowledge and skills and also able to have a transformative impact across sectors.

Workshops on Gender Mainstreaming and Greening in E-Commerce for E-Commerce Community: The Digital Business Institute (DBI), in collaboration with the Partnership for e-Commerce Initiatives (PeCI), recently organized a series of impactful workshops focusing on two vital themes for modern businesses: gender mainstreaming and greening in e-commerce. These workshops aimed to empower e-commerce stakeholders with strategies to promote inclusivity and sustainability, addressing critical challenges in today’s digital marketplace. The gender mainstreaming workshop explored how businesses can create more equitable environments by integrating gender-sensitive policies and practices into their operations. It highlighted actionable steps to promote diversity, ensuring that both women and men have equal opportunities to participate and thrive in the e-commerce ecosystem. The greening in E-Commerce session emphasized sustainability, teaching participants how to adopt eco-friendly practices within their business models. The workshop covered topics such as reducing carbon footprints in supply chains, utilizing sustainable packaging, and embracing circular economy principles. In addition to hosting these workshops, DBI unveiled its DBI Trust Seal, a badge of credibility awarded to businesses following a comprehensive self-assessment process. The Trust Seal signals to customers and partners that a business upholds high standards of transparency, trustworthiness, and ethical practices. By obtaining this seal, businesses not only gain a competitive edge but also foster greater confidence among their stakeholders. Through initiatives like these, DBI continues to demonstrate its commitment to shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and trustworthy digital economy.
